What Is Siam Camp
Siam Camp is not just any Muay Thai Camp, its home to the UK’s most decorated Muay Thai practitioner Grand Master Kevin Lloyd. For over 30 years Siam Camp has taught and promoted the art of traditional Muay Thai. Located in Oldham England the club started as a hobby and no matter how much the club has grown over the years the it always provides a family friendly atmosphere.
The club and its members are also very active within the local community, from regular charity fundraising events, to inter-club competitions as well as the more serious Fight Nights.
What Was Required
Grand Master Kevin wanted a way to keep members updated to new events as well as international followers. Equally important was that it should be easy to add and update. In attrition to the more structured club information such as training times we set up a blog style format so Grand Master Kevin can add new content from anywhere in the world whenever he needs.
What We Did
We started off establishing the main areas that makes the club unique. Siam Camp focuses just as much on the Muay Thai culture as it does the traditional techniques so it was important to convey the educational side that Siam Camp offers its members. We also connected the site to Grand Master Kevins social network sites and so while we were making the custom graphics for the website we also made graphics kits for Facebook & Twitter. Obviously we also integrated Google maps into the website along with several links to several associations that GMK is involved in.
We also included regular back-ups and some little tricks to help optimise photo uploads. Any uploaded photos are automatically resized and optimised for page load speed so uploading photos with new posts doesn’t need any additional work.
The End Result
The end result is a fairly simple website with lots of useful information for its local members as well as its international followers. Crucially it provides a relatively simple solution that GMK whereby GMK can add new content from his laptop (or even from his iphone). All he needs is internet access!
Usability was always going to be the deciding factor for this website, not just for the sites visitors but for Grand Master Kevin.
