eCommerce Website Design Case Study
Patriko London is a brand of luxury handmade ladies’ shoes. Their roots in high-fashion footwear go back to the early 1970s in England. In 2014 Patriko London launched their first official collection of ladies’ shoes.
Each shoe is hand-crafted using only the finest materials.
Eventually, the plan is to develop a full e-commerce website, so this was also something else to keep in mind for the future. But the immediate objective was to create an online presence and catalog of shoes so that when customers saw the new shoes in-store they had the option to go online and learn more. A simple QR code printed on the store label would direct customers to all the relevant information on available sizes, colour options, and materials used to make each product.
We also only had a few weeks to get the Patriko London 2014 Collection online before Christmas 2014 as this was the official launch date of the collection. The history and back story of the company was also important because although Patriko London is a new brand to the fashion shoe world they have decades of experience behind them.
Finally, the emphasis is on quality, with each shoe being hand-made from high-quality materials by skilled craftsmen.
As with any fashion brand, a modern website design is important, so to keep the focus on the shoes we created a minimalist design with large product images to emphasize the high-quality craftsmanship of each shoe in the range. We did quite a bit of work on the ‘Product Photography’ shots which involved a lot of cutting out and retouching, resizing and more to achieve a consistent look across the collection.
When a visitor looked at the shoes the only difference we wanted to stand out was the design features of the shoes themselves, not the background, size, or angle of each shoe.
Because the site would need to function as a simple display catalog now and eventually an e-commerce store to make online sales. It was important to identify a structure that can be used for both website styles. We wanted to be able to build on top of what we were creating, so we always had to keep in mind the eventual move to an e-commerce site.
There wasn’t a huge amount of content for the website but SEO was still important so we focused on connecting PATRIKO with shoes and footwear to start with. So once again our goal was to create a good foundation that the client could build on in the future.
We were very happy with the end result and so was the client.
Going above and beyond to deliver a website that really made the shoes the star of the show. We were also able to have everything up and running well before the deadline. We know we’re going to have a long-lasting relationship with Patriko London and are looking forward to developing their e-commerce site when they are ready to take the next step.
Siam Camp’s website can now be updated by the owners, just like they always wanted.
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you.
